Responsible gambling

Sooner or later, gambling costs money. The house edge is not a warning label, it is the arithmetic that pays for the whole operation, and no bonus, filter or strategy changes it. What follows is based on that.
Decide before you start
Before you deposit for the first time, settle on what you are prepared to lose, not afterward during a losing run. Whether a limit sticks depends on when it was set: calmly, it holds; while chasing, it doesn't. See your spending as entertainment's price tag, not as money that is owed back to you.
The tools in your account
- Deposit limit — limits what you can pay in to a daily, weekly or monthly maximum.
- Loss limit — limits your net losses to a set ceiling within a timeframe.
- Session reminder — a notification telling you how long your play session has run.
- Time-out — freezes account access for your chosen duration.
- Self-exclusion — bars account access for a longer duration.
Bring a limit down and the effect is immediate. A deliberate delay applies to raising limits, stopping removal at the exact point it matters.
Warning signs
Three behaviours deserve early attention: using money set aside for other needs, chasing lost money, and playing down to others how much is truly being spent in time or cash. On its own, any single sign is not very telling. As a set, the three are significant.
Where to get help
We hold no affiliation whatsoever with any of these organisations.
- ConnexOntario calls on 1-866-531-2600 are free and private.
- Responsible Gambling Council — independent, not-for-profit, and a source of information for players and families alike.
- Gamban — installed software that shuts gambling sites out of your devices.
About national self-exclusion schemes. If your province has a national or regional self-exclusion scheme, it will usually apply to operators licensed locally. Regardless of where an operator is licensed, the self-exclusion tool in your own account and device-blocking software still work.
Under-age gambling
Anyone opening an account must be at least 19. A shared device calls for both parental control software and login details that stay well hidden. Accounts opened by minors are closed and winnings are voided.
